La Roche-Posay
Brief
La Roche-Posay requested the help of One Agency to launch their three brand new gift sets, designed for Mother’s Day gifting. As these sets are exclusive to Boots, the campaign needed to be engaging and highlight the partnership whilst driving brand awareness through paid media. The overall goal was to showcase the trio of products in an engaging way that resonates with their new target audience aged 35 and over.


Process
Our Senior Creative Designer created the concept of the vibrant boxes being gracefully carried through the sky by branded parachutes. As they descend, the gift set trio land in front of the iconic Boots Oxford Street store, reinforcing the exclusivity of the launch and the trusted retail partnership.
From here, our Motion Design team began storyboarding the idea to help the client visualise the execution. Then came 3D modelling of the exclusive gift boxes, footage shooting in London, and tracking the camera movements which highlighted any people they needed to remove from the shot to ensure the boxes had a clear ‘landing path’.
We used a unified physics solver to create a system capable of soft and rigid deformations, this was used to create the final parachute and gift box animations. This proved challenging as the client wished for the parachutes to land in a particular way; the parachutes couldn’t obscure any key information on the gift boxes, and the hero parachute had to fall directly on top of the center gift box. They achieved this by using different constraints and forces within the simulation to direct the cloth in the way the client envisioned. Following this, they reached the 3D render stage and added the finishing touches to create a CGI masterpiece, such as including a soundbite of the Animator’s daughter saying “Hey Mum, look!” to further emphasise the Mother’s Day positioning.

Results
From the very beginning, we made sure to keep the message of the La Roche-Posay gift sets being exclusive to Boots, very clear. This was achieved through a literal CGI execution of the products landing directly in front of a Boots store, wrapped with La Roche-Posay packaging and branded parachutes, just in time for Mother’s Day!
Both La Roche-Posay and One Agency are over the moon with the final asset! It captures all elements of the brief in one well executed, seamless, and almost undetectable CGI.
